It's nine in the morning, the sign up ahead
says "You're finally leaving New Jersey" instead
of watching old sitcoms and lying in bed
let's roll down the windows and put in some Dead
This car's held together with duct tape and twine
and maybe we won't make it up this incline
so we'll cross our fingers and just pass the time
by pointing out every ridiculous sign
And as we cross the Tappan Zee
the strangest thing occurs to me
I have never felt so free
whoops we just missed exit three
Somehow Connecticut didn't take long
now every tune is our favorite song
we sing it loud and we sing it strong
I bet we'd sound good if the words weren't all wrong
Unfortunately I was dying of thirst
so I slammed three soda and now I might burst
we get to the rest stop but it just gets worst
because ten other people have gotten there first
We get back in the car and drive
but we don't care if we don't arrive
I have never felt so alive
didn't we want exit five?
We hit New Hampshire much to our dismay
we're almost to where we were going to stay
and event though this is the end of our hike
we head up to Maine just to see what it's like
And as we cruise the interstate
we have another strange debate
I have never felt to great
until we miss exit eight
